Start your homebuilt grinder project off with a rock solid flat platen or upgrade your existing flat platen set up! This flat platen is in A2 tool steel. It is 2" wide, just shy of 8" long & over a quarter inch thick (+- .291"). The mounting holes are tapped 1/4-20 & 6" apart. This platen fits most DIY style grinders, but check your layout before ordering. They fit our D-style backing plates & mounting brackets, please visit our Ebay store to see our other listings. Having a flat platen which can be removed from the D-style backing plate mounting bracket means you can replace flat platens when they become worn. You can also install a cooling plate between the flat platen & the mounting bracket for heavy duty grinding applications where heat becomes an issue. You can also insert pieces of shim stock (or aluminum baking tray material) to true the flat platen in relation to the D-style backing plate. These can be hardened.
